Put my bike aside for a bit. Haven't decided if I want to go with a supertrapp which would need a new header or have my race header crack welded for now. Either way I'll get a new header eventually from twinmotorcycles.

Alan at APH Performance makes the best new tuber exhausts IMO. But the race header should be easily perged and TIG welded if its just a crack and the entire crack line is easily accessible with a welding tip.

Thanks will compare the prices.
I like the idea of easy repacking but the race can has a nice sound like a 1000 lb wolf howling. Listening to the exhausts on YouTube none sound as good.

S3 and X1 (same year) have identical engines anyway.

Well, at least not in the US, but things were different over the years with HDI (international, such as Europe) bikes. I want to say that the 1998 S3 HDI bikes had a 2" exhaust where the DOM (Domestic) bikes we enjoyed in the states had the 2.5" exhaust. I'm not sure how long that was the case, but if the 1999 - up HDI S3's also had the 2" exhaust and the 1999 - up X1's had the 2.5" exhaust, then the X1 would appear 'a bit more spicy'.

I don't think I have enough EU literature to prove this and I certainly don't have the memory to...

Don't know how accurate this info is!?
and also no info about exhaust and header diameters.
