Hey guys. Bought a cherry 2000 S3 with 3700 miles. A lot of the recall/goodwill/upgrade items haven't been done. So I'm sorting it out. Doing the updated primary adjuster, oil pump gear, Jims mega nut, XB rocker covers, header support kit. I started with the support kit. This is my first tuber and man is it different.

It has a V&H pipe and when I installed the y adapter it was far to the left of the hanger. It's pushing out one bushing, pulling on the other even with the spacer. Pulling on the one more. I've considered using a longer spacer but it's still pushing the one side out. Any suggestions?

Also, in my grand stupidity or ignorance or combination having never dealt with a tuber, pulled one of the bolts to the old mount and low and behold two bolts hold the bike upright !! It loaded the shock (of course I jacked it up then). It's the old Showa 16.5" with SRP jackets. It spewed a little oil from the resivoir. I wiped it up and rode around after I completed the bracket job. Still seems to work and no leaks on the floor this morning. I'm afraid I may have killed it or at best shortened its life. I was looking at the works shocks on eBay. Non adjustable is $827, 2 way adjustable $150 more, 3 way adjustable $250 more. I'm just going to street ride, is the non adjustable ok? I guess the Showa is 2 way adjustable? Anyone with experience here?

Regular works will be fine and a great improvement. Replaced my Pogo stick with a fully adjustable this summer.

I got the load off of the bracket by reseating the exhaust pipe and tapping the bushings back into place. Finished the primary shoe replacement and XB rocker box conversion today. I had the rocker box covers powder coated black and man they look so much better. I just piped the pcv's to the stock location in the breadbox by moving the T further up in the line. All that's left is the Oil pump gear, which looks like a hell of a lot of work :/ and jims mega nut. I've got a socket that is fairly close and I'm going to use an impact to take the old nut off and put the new one on with red loctite. Is that ok or will I damage something? There's some holder tool and spanner both of which are pricey, so I'm trying to make due. Found a crack in the forward fairing today. Didn't notice it when I bought it but it's quite big! May have to pull it off for the body shop : (. Pictures to follow!

beautiful bike except for that little crack in the fairing. Don't see anything modified but the muffler, that's very unusual.

Oil pump is actually pretty easy hardest partvis getting to it a table works good for work like that.
Not familiar with Jims mega nut. Is that on the front pulley? If so it is recommended to not use an impact. You will most likely need the pulley holding tool and the special socket. It is not rounded at the front of it. I was using a piece of wood a stsndard socket a 18" breaker bar ans A 4 ft pipe and only thing that moved was a broken breaker bar. Got the right socket and lock tool and it was off in a second!
Welcome to the tuber world there is nothing as frustratingly enjoyable in the world!

2 stroke street bikes give them a run for the money! So frustrating but so fun! I may take it to a harley shop for the nut. The mega nut is on don castos list of recommended upgrades, yeah it's on the front.

The front fairing is at the body shop, $175 repair plus I left some black ABS cement : ) and told them not to use fiberglass resin or I would murder someone lol.

Check the old nut, it may be loose , mine was. I also went with the mega nut.
The special socket is a good purchase, as that mega nut is very thin, and standard socket has a beveled end. Ebay is your friend for that.
If your nut is tight a LITTLE heat is good, like a pencil torch.
Lock tool is easy to make if you mean the primary side tool.

When you pull timing cover , be careful a cam doesn't fall out, because then you have to pull the rocker arms again. In my experience anyway.
