Pretty sure that front brake rotor is an EBC rotor made for a Buell which would be correct

If you need a good front fairing spider I have a nice one available. $100 plus shipping

I also have many of those parts you are looking for available to include several sets of S2 bodywork. Just call me with what you still need and we can probably work out a package deal.

EBC uses a similar carrier on many of their rotors, but on tubers they use the spiral rotor instead. Also if you look at the gap between the rotor and the wheel and compare it to other tubers, you can see that the gap is larger than others, indicating it is a smaller rotor, which is common on other sportbikes. Ducatis and others use 12.4-12.6" rotors, and many that are made by Brembo have the same bolt pattern.

Pic has a lot of glare so my old eyes cannot see the gap.

I guess ST.Paul HD doesn't want any of my money. I sent a parts request in over 10 days ago and no response. I even sent Lance a message with no response. They sent me the wrong parts last time. I guess with American Sport Bike gone we have to deal with poor, or no service from HD dealerships.

I don't think I should have to jump thru hoops to order parts. I work and I'm too busy to call during business hours. I've dealt with a bad HD dealership since '06 and I don't want to deal with them any more than I have to. If I wanted to, I could just drive down there.

Parts update. I've got the lowers and front motor mount. A faring, windshield, cables and stay are on the way. I think the rear iso's, decals, and the bag mounts are the last major parts to find. Everything else is minor or I may have in my parts collection, or I'm going to build.

Ok . . . I jump through "making phone call" hoops all day. Takes me back to the days of trying to find factory 0.010" over pistons for my XR-1000.

The stickers should be easy. There are lots in the network, or were, and . . if not . . they are cheap and easy to make.

If you PM's Lance using the boards PM function, they are unreliable. He likely never got it.

It's not that our board software is really doing anything wrong, it's a spam filter and spam control false positive thing done by other email infrastructure.

I had a little time this weekend to assess the s2. I took the front caliper off to design a bracket to allow for the smaller rotor and found another thing wrong. This is the caliber of people that worked on this bike.

The rotor looks like it didn't sustain too much damage. Are the front pads the same as the '96-'98 S1's? I'm waiting to get a motorcycle lift before I get too deep into this project.

I'm going to get the harbor freight lift. It goes on sale the middle of Oct. I know the wheel clamp is junk but other than that I've heard its a good lift for the money.

The only big things I need to find is the bag mounts and rear isolators.

Nicely done, yes the pads are the same as the 96-98 S1

Slight correction/clarification:
1998 was the first year for the Nissin front caliper. So the pads in an S2 or S2T would be the same as the '96-'97 S1 (or '97 M2 or '97 S3/S3T).

Matt,
If you are OK with the original style of rear isolators on your S2T (which any S2/S2T should be completely fine with), if you cover shipping then I got a new, unused pair for you. PM me your address if you would like to go this route.

Glad that you rescued this S2T!

Last time I got my bikes MOT'd (UK roadworthiness test) there was a Harley in front of me with similarly installed pads. They were new and had been fitted by the local main dealer only a couple of weeks before.

Anybody switched to 7/8 controls. I don't like 1" grips and the Harley controls are a poor design. I have a few xb controls laying around. I was thinking of switching to them if I could find the right bars.

Matt,
I didn't care for the large grips so I've stretched thin wall 7/8" grips on to the 1" bars. I think they were an aftermarket brand called "Pro-Grips". Overall diameter when installed was smaller than the original and fairly comfortable. I've had them on the bike for over 20 years. I could send you a photo if you'd like. Saves modifying the original bars in case you ever want to go back to stock.

If you don't like the fat 1" grips go to your local HD dealer and ask for the thin grips they sell for Sportsters. They are really nice.
