Doing mine this winter as well. Here you need to get through the clear coat first. Then it's regular polishing techniques.

I like California customs purple polish.

Charger,

What will u be using to get rid of the coating ?
Most recommendations i've got was to use water-sandpaper (I hope the translation is correct, lol) of P800 -> P1200 and finish with P2000.

Ive found the Mothers products (Mag & Alu polish and Powercone) in my country, but the first task is indeed to get thru the coating first...
Any other techniques possible ?

Final question :
I got the removal of the coating covered
I got the polishing part covered
Now, the finishing :
Anyone putting some kind of coating back on afterwards, a varnish of some type ?
It seems the aluminium might get hurt bad when driving in badweather (lol)

Once polished a wax will work but it will need redone often.
They do make clear powder coat,
I used Penetrol. Its cheap wipes on and protects. It was used on ww2 planes
There is also stuff called shark hide it is really strong.
Check with a marina or biat place they might have something also

You never polish anything once.

You'll need to give it wipe down with a little polish every once in a while. No big deal.

My experience with clear coats on polished metal is largely negative....that includes powder coat.

Ralph, you have a point there.
As this is my first time polish project.. i might leave it
Subsequent passages can help fixing first time faults...
Ill stick to a wax to protect it a bit against bad weather.
It will be a cafe racer after all.

Thx guys for the help!
