My Crossroads bars with 1" spacer are just too low for me these days..

I don't want to go back to the stock X1 bars so I am looking for something in between for the rise/pullback.

Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket bar that makes for a more comfortable ride when cruising around town?

I have Renthal Streetfighters on mine, they're very comfortable. Still a little bit of rise, but don't look anywhere like those ape hangers that came stock on my S1. I've actually just been moving these bars from bike to bike as I trade them in, first on the xb9, then the speed triple, now on the S1.

Those look like the stock xb bars, these ones are the streetfighters. Again not the best picture but it's the only one I still have loaded on buellxb that shows the bars.

That was such a good looking bike. I never should've sold it.

They also come with a removable cross bar and pad, if you like the mx style more, but I usually go without.

They also sell a set called the Ultra-Low which I always thought looked really good and I actually liked a little more, but I got this pair off of a friend, so it wasn't worth spending money on another pair of bars when these worked perfectly fine.

Ive got MX bars as well. Had them on for years and love them. I just removed the crossbar and bolt them on. Can be found for a good price too.

Great looking X1! I want to like those bikes so bad but I just can't get into the looks with the bigger tank and the huge tail. They look so much better with smaller custom tails like that! Did you make it yourself? Is that a modified HF stand? I think I have the same one around here somewhere. What kind of padding did you put on the bottom?

Sorry, that was a serious thread-jack.

I was talking to Mike, I'm a sucker for steel trellis subframes. I hadn't seen yours yet, but your tail looks great too! I've seen a few of those tails around too and I think they look great. These bikes look best with short stubby tails.

Upthemaiden,
Yes it is a custom steel tube frame i fabbed up. I also sectioned and shortened a stock seat as well as the fiberglass seat cover. It really wasnt a hard process and was able to use a 115V gassless mig welder. I have a diy somewhere i think. Will try and post the link.
As far as the stand, you are absolutley correct. I bought the HF one for like $20, and although it did work out of the box i noticed that while the bike was in the air and you nudged the bike from side to side there was a lot of flexing in the stand. So i used some extra tubing from the subframe to cross brace it a little. It is unbelievably solid now.

I'd love to see the link if you can find it. I assumed it was something you pieced together after I saw your profile said you were a mechanical engineer. I'm happy with my S1 tail as is, but someday I want to get an old gsxr from the early 90s for a streetfighter project and will have to come up with a new subframe for that one.

Yup, that's the same stand I have, and I remember how much the bike would wobble on it. I'd use it and pull the bike back off of it as soon as possible because I was always worried it was going to fold up haha. It's especially bad on bikes with skinny swingarms because you have to extend the arms of the stand so much. It wasn't nearly as bad on my XB with the extra wide swingarm.

Fellow badwebber Dutch has the connection for the short factory style subfram for the X1. For the S1 I have always been fond of speed of color

He got the S1 tank on there too. I assume he had to cut a big hole in the bottom of the tank so he could fit a fuel pump in there.

Nevermind, I looked up some X1 tanks on ebay. It looks like it must have some kind of external fuel pump. All of the previous FI bikes I've owned had big round boles in the bottom of the tank that were 4-5" in diameter for a steel plate with a pump attached to it to bolt in.

X1 tanks have an internal fuel pump. There is a section in the belly that gous lower for a sump and the fuel pump sits in it. The bike above is an S1. You could put an S1 tank on an X1 but it would take mounting modifacations and seat mods along with a carb conversion. At that point buy an S1.
I have an X1 with an S1 motor.

Ooooooh, I read that wrong, you said Dutch had the connection for the short tail on an X1, and I assumed that picture you posted was a modified X1 with an S1 tail and tank on it. Makes sense now. I agree though, that's a great looking bike, and that speed of color tail looks pretty sharp. Never seen that before!
