Now that I look at my VIN number list, are you sure you don't have an S2T?

In your profile, you list an 1995 S2, yet you post a question about your 1996 S2.

Which year do you actually own?

Sports Touring saddlebags Lowers (legshields) Higher handlebars Lower footpegs = (S2T) = relaxed riding Comfort !!!! S2 higher foot pegs lower lower bars more aggressive riding position. No bags or lowers but could add touring ops.

Fabfun,

That sound right

I believe if your VIN starts with 4MZFT11H, then its a non-California bike, which makes it 239 of 398.

If the VIN starts with 4MZFT56H, then its a California S2T....but since there were only 36 of those, #239 must be the 49 state version

S2T THUNDERBOLT (SIGNATURE SERIES)

Fabfun, regarding your question of chrome added, depends on the buyer.

The gray wheels are more likely Castalloy from Adelaide, Australia.

Court, the grey '96 S2T I just brought home has grey wheels with an "M" cast into the spokes. I "assumed" they were Marchesini's. Am I wrong about that?

Hope all's well in NYC.

No, you are not wrong. Having an M cast in the wheel identifies the wheel as a Marchesini.

The Castalloy wheels came into production just a little bit later...
