I have been running a DD exhaust on my 2000 M2 and where the muffler attaches to the header seems to be very loose but the clamp is tightened down as far as can go.

Have a good look at it ,something could be cracked or worn out.

Have seen it with a micron header pipe that was worn through on one side.

I went through the same thing about 2 years ago, turned out to be a cracked mount under the front hanger, do you hear a weird "tapping" sound at all?

Took apart and the two ends where missing about half an inch at bottom. I took my old Vance Hines cut the muffler off and made a 4in baffle from packing and screen then drilled two holes and locked it in with a cotter pin.
