So i finally managed to get the right bolts and took the dive into replacing the shock mount and old, blown shock with the new updated shock and bracket I had.

I was just about to trash the old shock and I thought to myself I better check first to see if there was any value in keeping it. I know some shops will rebuild them.

Opinions?

If you want it for a spare you can send it to racetec to be rebuilt. If you kept a Buell shick on the bike not a penske or something it will go bad again at some point

My shocks failure rate was 12,000+- miles.
it had gold valves for a while, doh. I eventually found gp suspension using his valving and spring. I was told the gas bladders were blowing. After 5 rebuilds he sold me a Penske.

I can honestly state with no hesitation after riding the Penske untouched for the last 40,000 miles, the factory recall chrome can is a POS.

my 96S1 has 107,000 miles

I'll take it off your hands! If you can post it to Australia. Tell me what you want for it.

Would you be interested in getting rid of the bracket if its for a 16.5 shock?

M2 shock for x1 is stiff but seems to last.

Omit my last post as I am now looking for shock #5.
Am now trying to sauce penske in Au.

Apparently Vibration from the motor and heat from muffler an nitrogen gas don't go well together, that plus alignment is thought to be reasons for the consistent failures.

Buell abandoned this rear suspension design for a good reason and we are still picking up the costs.
Any thoughts on the twin motorcycle rear shock?

I was hoping for the same from my m2 shock.
Got my m2 shock from Lance too.

I had the original shock rebuilt twice
then bought the M2 shock now the Nitrogen gas leaked out of that. =4 fails and next will be 5.
I am 115kg.
the bike is 16 years old which equates to 3.1 years per shock.
Poor in any language.
