Would like to lower the seat height on a 1995 S2 for a vertically challenged customer. Looks like the easiest way is to get an new bracket for the front shock mount that will move the shock rearward and rear tire upward towards the seat. Does anyone make a bracket to accomplish this. Or have one they would like to sell ?

Thanks,

Rick

Probably easier to buy a pair of boots. How much of your foot are you able to get on the ground. Lowering a bike I've read is always the last option. 1. Boots 2. Modified seat 3. Lowering link..

You could make a adjustable shock mount ,or make a copy from the one on your s2 and make that adjustable so it's possible to go back to stock.

I agree - lowering the machine is a last resort. Dropping the rear only will make it turn in slowly, handle like crap, and potentially bottom out in dips or when 2-up.

Boots.

NARROW the front part of the seat - knees closer together equals straighter legs and better footing.

And if you absolutely HAVE to lower the bike, lower the front the same as the rear to keep the handling characteristics. And consider upping the spring rate accordingly, to help combat bottoming. Yes...it will be a stiffer ride. Another reason lowering is a last resort.

Oh yeah...one other thing. It's a Buell.

Even a relatively "heavy" tuber can still be EASILY one-footed at lights. Left foot down, right foot brake.

My thought process has always been "if you can't hold up your bike with one foot down...you shouldn't be on that bike".

You may receive a lot of negativity about lowering a bike, especially a Buell.

Some have done it but unlikely you will get more than 1" lower without running into other issues as some mentioned.

I lowered my wife's old ninja 1". She didn't notice other than being more comfortable and confident in riding. I also didn't notice much difference other than scraping my boot a little easier.

A friend has a FZ8 that was lowered 2" or more. I know they used springs in the forks but forgot to look at the rear. It rides firm and of course easy to hit the pegs but even as short as she is, she can still put her feet down.

Before I did any of the above though, I would look into adjusting the seat. I found this guy a while back. He will replace the foam to make seats more comfortable and can also lower the seat during the process. If we hadn't sold the ninja, this was my next step.

Found this for a s2 ,but you have to ask if it's a lowered mount!
Some west-tek mounts are to lower the bike ,so maybe this is one that is!

Another thing is if you lower it you will probably have to modify the kickstand. I looked at a s1 before buying the X1 and it had been lowered with a rewelded kickstand.

I think lowering it is a bad idea because the exhaust is on the bottom.

The S2 leans over pretty far while on the stand. Lowering the bike an inch (or even two) will not affect its ability to lean on the stand. Well, unless you've replaced your side plates with ones that correct the kickstand lean angle or bent the stand just right.

I'm in need of decals for a 1995 Ice White Pearl S2 Thunderbolt ?? I have two sets of '95 S2 bodywork freshly repainted White Pearl that I would like to get complete sets of decals for. Anyone know of any reproduction or NOS sets I can purchase ?

Thanks,

The only challenge with lowering the rear of the bike is that you need to lower the front the same amount.

You can slide the tubes up in the triple clamps about an 1" before the handle bars start to get in the way.

Lowering both ends equally, DOES NOT affect the geometry of the bike.

And YES you MAY want to shorten the side stand, or source a M2 L stand.

It's an S2.

The bars go WITH the tubes. They're clip-ons.

That westek mount I learned was equivalent to the updated recall mount that goes with the new replacement shock. It might not be worth anything to you.

"I'm in need of decals for a 1995 Ice White Pearl S2 Thunderbolt"

I see these on eBay from time to time.

That one is from Lance at St. Paul HD.

I've also been led to believe these are still available through HD, if you need a different color. Talk to Lance.

"And YES you MAY want to shorten the side stand, or source a M2 L stand."

Kickstands from other tubers will NOT fit an S2 unless you replace the side plates with aftermarket.
