Sorry Jolly my weekends looked busy for about a month out or I would have delivered them in person. Something about kids, wife, kids sports, work and life have just simply got in the way. @mighty mouse, I have sent pm's and emails trying to get your address and haven't had a response. I know our pm system sucks around here. @Norice yours went out today |

Got mine and installed it yesterday.....lotta meat on that bone! I came up a little short on the isolator bolt but got about 3/4 of it into the nut. Nice upgrade for the cost. Thank you! |

I got mine a couple of days ago. Had a look at installing it and have decided that 3/4 of the nut is not sufficient for my comfort level. I'll have to source a slightly longer one. (Annoyingly, I was at a fastener store a few weeks ago and took a guess as to the length needed and it turned out I got the same length as stock.) |

Got mine today Jeff. Took about an hour to install. Is it just me or does it seem like it keeps the bike from bouncing around while sitting idle? Will get a ride in tomorrow to see if I notice a difference in vibration. Thanks |

you won't notice a difference in vibration, the noticeable part is in the steering they steer better handle better. |

The front isolator is installed differently for bikes with a notched steering tube and an un-notched steering tube. Mine is the latter. The isolator, in that case, is installed below the frame, rather than above. I don't think that can be accomplished without either removing the head or removing the rear isolators and lifting the frame off to allow the isolator to be fitted into place. Mine is now fitted into place. If it is installed above the frame, the built-in washer section hits the steering tube, which, in the past, I had addressed by cutting a piece off the front of it, effectively making it a D-washer. Now, the problem. Because the isolator is fitted below the frame, it isn't as high as it would be if installed above. And what I've found is that the stenzel bar doesn't sit square on the top of the isolator. It has too much bend. Comments? |

Short version. Has anyone with a non-notched steering tube tried to install one yet (besides me?) |

Eric what is the bar going on? A S2? I don't have a S2 unfortunately to look at. I have everything else but they all have a notched neck like your talking about. The X1 has a steering lock but it's notched right above the lock. |

The new style isolators have instructions to install the iso below the frame if the steering tube isn't notched (to allow room for the built it washer.) otherwise, the iso washer rattles against the fork-tube. To get it in place, the motormount is in the way unless you (a)remove the head, or (b)remove the motormount, or (c)lift the frame, front and back, off the motor. (The motormount contacts the front triangular frame-member before there is sufficient gap to squeeze the iso by if you just drop the front.) Its a PITA, obviously. And, in hindsight, I should have thought of that and raised it while you were designing. Unfortunately for me, I just got the engine buttoned up before I received the Stenzel bar. As I think it through, it probably isn't necessary to install the iso from below when the Stenzel bar is included as it would, hopefully, keep the built-in washer from shifting forward and contacting the forktube. I'll proceed to just lift the frame. Currently my rear iso plates have seized bolts, that I was going to put off for another day. Needs doing anyway eventually, so I'll just re-prioritize. |

I hate to be pooping on the parade and I appreciate the work you've put into this. And I will use it. However, a word of caution for the others. When I hold the bar against the (uninstalled) isolator,I notice that the bend starts to begin (if that's not a redundancy), in the area of contact with the iso washer section. That is to say: even uninstalled (both parts on the workbench) the bar doesn't sit flush against the iso. Given the importance of maintaining clamp load, I will be dressing it with a file at the back end of the contact area. As long as the area around the hole to a radius of the small (loose)washer is square, the rest can even be recessed if I file to much off. Again, this is the area on the underside of the bar just forward of the bend which overlaps the area of the built-in iso washer. |

Evening Jeff: All my S3 have the old style front mount. Price is lost in the thread. Do you have a couple of Stenzel bars for the old style and at what price? Note: I was part of a Front mount thread some years back. New style mount from Harley-Davidson was not recommended because the rubber was harder and required a thinner bolt. Is this still true? I purchased several sparse of the old isolator kit from American Sport Bike. |
