And it pisses me off to no end. I though i beat that demon, but nooooOOOoo!

What's the Factory's take on this problem. I remeber some goodwill offering, but to many Electrical shocks kinda messed up ma head.

Any info would be, like they used to say, Groooovy.

Mikey,
I feel your pain. 23,000 on the ole S1. Bubbling decal on an otherwise perfect tank.

I have seen gas tanks on other vehicles do the same thing. Isn't this caused by vapors passing through porous metal?

I just picked up an S1W (thanks Josh!) and it has a few bubbles under the raised lettering.

Has anyone tried a gas tank liner? It is a liquid liner that coats the inner tank wall to seal it. It's popular with car restorations.

Mike; a year or two after the bubbling decals appeared, the factory would good-will replace the tanks with similar decals. Later a few had theirs replaced with tanks with the Lego letters.

At this point, you'd likely have to repaint your tank. Have the letters sprayed on, rather than using decals. That ought to work. There was a thread recently where, I think, Al at American Sport Bike had the paint instructions from the factory.

Mikey, I got a spare tank for my M2 because it was too cheap to pass up and I had some minor lowside scratches. I was going to run one tank while the other was repainted. The spare I got was one of the bubbled tanks.

I ended up patching the paint on bike, which turned out "good enough", but had a good chance to study the bubbled ones.

I *think* you could carefully cut the bubbled letters off with an exacto knife, and then apply the 2000 style raised solid plastic letter stick ons right where you cut off the bubbles, and the original bubbled areas would be completely covered. This was a 2k m2, not sure about other years.

Yep, just contact Al for the paint instructions and guidelines and links. My S2 is beginning to show a few freckles on parts of the bodywork bubbling up under the paint, still minor at this point though.
