Got a question for you S3Ters out there -
Ive got a chance to pickup a 2000 S3T with 3925 miles, a new rear tire/pro series muffler/taller windsheild/ and in overall most excellent condition. They are asking 6k for it. Is this too much ? Or should I snap it up ASAP ?

My 99 S3T went for $5500. Lots of accessories incl full race kit and Nallin Stg 1 heads, 46,000miles.

Sounds good to me, but you might try for the $5500 I got for mine...

What Im trying to get them to do is trade my 01 GS500e and my 94 FZR600 and 2700 bucks - I figure it would be about 5700 total. That way I get a bike I want and get to pass along some really good beginner bikes - FYI the Gs is for sale - it has 3300 miles, I bought it for my wife with 600 miles on it ( a guy traded it in for a 883 while I worked @ a HD shop )Im asking 2k for it, it need nothing and only has a few very small scratches on the forward part of the muffler.

I paid $5500 for my 99 with 11,000 miles in June. In hindsight and in comparing with a few others I paid too much. The number of extras will be important (mine had zilch). I was in a hurry and it was the color/wheels I wanted. If I had known about this sight I probably would have ended up with something from here. Considering that winters rapidly approaching $5k would seem to be a fair offer.
Good Luck!

I'm with Doughnut. $6K is too much in TN, unless shipping nationwide is included in the price.

Ask first how much they'll give in trade-in on one of your bikes,
next ask how much they'll give in trade-in on the other bike,
then ask how much they'll give in trade-in on both of the bikes,
then and only then ask how much cash you'd have to kick in, or ask then what a cash-now price is on the bike.
Some dealers will work with you, other's won't, bit I'm thinking you can get it with both your bikes and $1000 or so.
Just a hunch, and if you take my advice and the dealer ends up punching you in the nose then forget I was ever here. ; )

Well, heres the scoop. Im now a tube frame owner as well a an XB owner. Dude couldnt give me crap for my trade ins ( 1200 for both the FZR and GS, and 1500 for my KTM, I scoffed @ him, but, thats another story ) so I gave him some cash down and got it. Got it for 6K, taxes, tags, etc. out the door ,so it was like 5400 ( 10% sales tax here in TN ). I only managed to put 100 miles on, but so far so good ! Only problem, does anyone have a suggestion for a more ( forgive my next statment .) quite exhaust ? After a small straight away the roar of the muffler was, well how should I word it, a little loud for my taste.

You want it QUIETER? Go back with a stock muffler. If an X-1 Muffler has the same mounts, I'd sell you one of the two I have cheap. Both have less than 6000 miles on them, or I'll trade you for that pro series. Let me know if interested

Thanks Tom, Im thinking of doing the a trade with my Dads X1. His is still stock and he has made a comment about wanting more noise. His X1 is an 01 so im not sure about compatibilty - Has anyone tried a Hindle muffler ? I have one of thier systems on my ZX6-R and am quite pleased with its sound, not loud untill 11k rpms.
