My X1 will be needing a new set of tires soon. I was thinking about the CityX Pirellis Anyone running them on a tuber or is there a reason I shouldn't. Pirelli is a 180/55 vs 170/60 Dunlop that is on bike now. I have the PM/5.5" rims (same width as CityX). TIA Frank | |||

I only have 800 miles on 'em so far on the CityX, but I really like them. I also had 180/55's on my 2000 M2, with zero issues, so there should be no problem there. I like the look of the tread a lot as well. They are all I have experienced on an XB, so I don't have any more data. Did you find a place that sells them cheap? How much does Buell want for them? | |||

The Duc Multistrada is rolling on Pirelli Scorpions also. I searched through several different sites asking about the Scorpions. Several of the European riders had already gone through several sets and were committed to them for the Multi's. No reported problems... | |||

Good deal. I'll try them for sure and I'll be getting them after this weekend. I'll post the cost then. The local HD/Buell dealer (Orlando) has good tire prices but charges 1hr labor to mount (on bike). I'll take in the wheels to cut that labor cost in half. Frank | |||

Great minds. I had the same thought for my X1 when I saw those CityX tires but got chopped at the knees when I heard that 180/55 is a no-no on my cast rim. Reepicheep, did your M2 have the cast or PM rims? | |||

The normal cast rims, no problem. Turn in may be *slightly* slower, but not much, and whatever you put on will be far better then the worn out tire being replaced anyway. It looks nice and fills out the rear hugger fender completely. I can't say positively absolutely, but when I bought my Cyclone with 3000 miles on it, the PO indicated it still had the original rubber, and it was a 180/55, so there is a decent chance some came from the factory that way, though it is possible the PO or original dealer had been messing with stuff. | |||

I haven't gotten the Pirellis yet but after a bit of riding during Biketoberfest my current rubber is just about shot so it'll be soon. Frank | |||

I had a 180 D207 on my 2002 X1W with no problems. I also was not running the tire hugger, it may be too tight with it on. | |||

i'm running the scorpions on the front and i have 2500 miles on them i love them they are the best tires i've had in the rain. i can corner better than ever and they are lighter than most tires. if your into traction and not tire life these are for you. i do stoppies in the rain no problem even flipped it ova twice by doing stoppies. i've found that thwey are better than dunlops' 208gp, metzler MEZ4- horrible in rain, BattleAx- great tire life, dunlops 220- great tire life take too long to warm up, michlian macidamian--SUX | |||

I ordered my Pirelli Scorpions today from: www.dmtaonline.com $208 to my door. My local chopper shop (Central FL Choppers) will mount them as soon as they arrive. I'll report as to performance/longevity as time goes on. Frank BTW I checked and Orlando HD/Buell, Seminole HD/Buell, and Ft. Myers HD/Buell do not currently have them in stock (Daves does though). I have Pirelli Scorpions on my Jeep! Great tires  , but I think if I put them on the Buell it would rub my hugger for sure. | |||

Got them mounted this AM. $60 at the local chopper shop (I took in the wheels). Took a ~50 mile ride (80 F out today) and they feel good. Check them out. Frank     | |||

Stoppies in the rain...that's impressive. I'm going with the Scorpions when my Diablos wear out (soon). I've scorched a 220 in 4000 miles. More life supposedly...not when coupled with lots of wheelspin. | |||

Hey Ftd, The Scorpions are cool. But one question. Are the Tires Directional? The Front Tire appears to be going the opposite direction of your Rear Tire? I just installed a set of the Diablo Corsas on my X1. And will try them out this weekend. I purchased them before reading this thread!! | |||

Those tires are uni-directional. They front may look backwards but it's pointing the correct direction. It seems to be common for sportbike tires to have the front tread pattern going in the "opposite" direction. Mike. | |||

Yeah...I've got the Corsa's. So far 4000+ miles...front has good tread but is getting hard. It now needs a lot of warm up time before it sticks. The rear is pretty wasted down the center but still has good tread on the sides. They are pretty terrifying in the rain...but sliding around on the throttle is a good time. However... New they are phenominal tires. They stick with little to no warm-up time, they works surprisingly well in the rain...seriously confidence-inspiring. I remember when they were new they were so sticky they'd pick up all kinds of road trash when going 'round parking lots. No such luck now! The main reason I've got so much life out of 'em is because they've only done a couple long trips...the rest of my riding is short sprints here and there. Another thing is they've had no cupping issues as I've always had with Dunlops. They are still fairly round and true considering their mileage. Another thing I prefer about Pirellis is that if you do happen to slide 'em, they feel very predictable, unlike the alarming sudden shift of other street tires I've used. | |||

Thanks guys. I got the Diablo Corsa's after all, and so far, I couldn't agree with you more. They really are inspiring compared to the Dunlops I had on. But, like Rick_a says, I remember when they were new... But so far, the Pirelli's seem far superior to the Dunlops. | |||
