No, my wife and I both have R1150RT's for long rides. We camp and the extra room for gear is a plus. Also have been spoiled by the comfort and weather protection. I have to decide this spring if I am going to sell the S2. I almost always go out on the RT anymore. It has been great this winter. | ||

Sorry. Technical difficulties. I'd point out that you've started this thread in the S2 section and, while an eighth annual S2 Rally would be nice, we only had, IIRC, seven S2 owners and one S2 at last year's S2 Rally or sub-rally or whatever, while probably 30 bikes showed up for the related Buell ride. Without re-hashing all of last year's angst, an S2 Rally (with any other bikes welcome) would have much less buy-in from others than a general Buell Rally or an Old School Buell Rally. So you might want to consider how big a group you want and start the thread again further up the foodchain, so to speak. Grand Marais would be a good central meeting spot,small hotel, brew pub,fabulous roads.I took the S2 group through some of the scenic routes a few years back.Just a thought. | ||

Other bikes have always been welcome at the S2 Rally. I believe the only pure S2 one we had was Xmas in July up on the upper peninsula. I think what Eric is saying is that a purely S2 focused rally is always going to be small. The largest one we had was in the Ozarks and that was a perfect central location with great advance planning and logistics. It wasn't all S2's, but it was our largest grouping of them. It was also the hottest temps I have ever traveled in. By now it is a little late to pull off a S2 rally without a lot of effort by someone for finding a site, making accommodation arrangements, etc. And since the S2 owners are all over the country they need plenty of advance notice in order to plan the long rides we are known for. We usually started planning right after the last years rally. That didn't happen this year so I have already made other plans. So Eric's point is that if you want more than a handful of bikes it would probably be better to hook up with one of the other planned events such as Homecoming. Correct me if I am wrong Eric. Pete posed the question in the S2 section but his question seemed broader, more inclusive. So my point was that if he was envisioning a larger Buell rally, he should post the question further up the ladder, like in "Old School Buell" or just Storm Fronts, where all Buellers would see the suggestion. Alternatively, if he was asking about an S2 Rally, my point was that there isn't much buy-in for that anymore. Or it would, at least, be a small group. | ||

Thanks for all the information, may take a ride into Wisconsin early June, and will definitely ride up to grand Marais.I was just wondering if few S2 riders wanted to get together at a central location and take a ride, drink a few brews and commiserate. I'm open for suggestions :-) |
