I've had my S2 a little over 3 years now and I've never serviced the fork tubes. The bike rides and handles great and there are no leaks from the seals, so I'm thinking everything is fine. However because I like to understand everything mechanical on anything I own, I'd like to strip them down for a good cleaning, replace the seals, and refill them wih fresh lubricant. Is there a preferred fork oil for a midwestern climate when riding in 40 to 90 degree weather? |

I think parts for the S2 forks could be hard to find. Considering that I would personally only do a fluid change if nothing was currently leaking and even then I would make sure I had replacement parts in hand before doing that. If it ain't broke don't fix it sort of thing considering availability of replacement parts |

I've herd on one of these threads that spraying Lighter Fluid on leaking seals makes Them softer and swell and stop leaks in some cases.Maybe a good preventive maintenance. |

That is a great old thread with some fantastic photos, thanks for posting that link. I may take Gowindward's advice and leave well enough alone. The forks seem to work fine and they have no leaks anywhere. Maybe I'll just change the oil and leave it be. Any thoughts on a good fork oil for the midwest temps? |

On the subject of seals, this was interesting. In the comments section, someone suggests that you can do the same with a piece of old-school film negative. This video is about fixing minor leaks by getting crud out of the seal's surface. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wlzfoVroSY Sorry, no advice for fork oil. |

The S2 Roma forks are easy to rebuild. The harder part was removing from the triple clamps. Fork seals are available as well as the bushings. |

The manual calls for the WP 7.5 weight oil. I used the WP oil a couple time then went to AMSoil medium oil and I like the it rides. The fork service should be done every 10K. |
