The top mount , the big metal plate that mounts to both heads, and that the adjuster mounts to.

Are they functionally all the same and interchangeable S2, S3,S1 etc?

Thanks

The S3, M2, X1, and S1 can be interchangeable except the X1 doesn't have the air cleaner mount. The S2 had two different mounting bolt sizes going in to the head.

The functionality of all of the top motor mounts were the same. The only potential variation that I could see - I don't recall the details, so there may not be any - is the orientation/alignment hole for the choke cable bracket may not be on the brackets for the injected bikes.

Since I don't recall the details, logically thinking...making the same part without the hole (for injected bikes) would create a different part number. This added complexity is something I would not expect, so I would think they would be completely interchangeable from tuber to tuber.

If I were near all my reference literature I'd be able to be more definitive,

I was surprised to find the part number changed from a -94Y to a -98Y in 1998, which still had the carb/choke cable requirement.
Like 1313, I would have expected a change (if any) would have occurred for the 1999 model year.
The -94Y number superseded (to L0160.8Q) where I can not find (yet) where the -98Y was superseded.
Despite that - I don't believe there's any major differences between the two.

From looking at each mount on my '96 S2 and the mount on my '99 X1 they look functionally the same. the X1 bracket even has a hole for mounting a choke/ignition bracket to it. The visual different is in the shape of what I would call the top hat section. The S2 part has a more complicated shape to that portion. I would guess they simplified it to reduce manufacturing cost.
