What year did Harley go to the better primary chain adjuster? Thanks | ||

I know my early 2000 M2 had the old one. I think they changed not long after that. | ||

The old part should be obsolete, so it may not matter which year you tell them you want. | ||

I was just wondering because I have to change primary oil and if I was going to do that I would change the chain adjuster if needed at that time | ||

You should have a new adjuster on hand if you are going to open up the case. I decided to try the Powerclutch ball-and-ramp mechanism and it was a good thing I had the new style adjuster readied.   As you can see the difference between old and new, and that with the feeler gauge I was lucky and caught the old adjuster just in time. The crack was on both sides of the bolt. Roderick | ||

Makes sure to get it from HarLee, too. The Drag Specialties one is from China and the quality isn't quite what it could be. | ||

At some point somebody who has both on the shelf in front of them should look for something on the "pointy out end" that might let people tell (without pulling the primary) if they have the new or old style in there. May not be anything that much different, but maybe the length is different, or the machining is different, or the allen head is different, who knows. | ||

The reason they were braking more than the sportsters is the additional engine braking forces our engines are capable of. It's not simply an adjustment issue. | ||

new chain adjusters are blue in color I was wondering when Harley put the stronger yellow adjuster in? | ||

The previous hot sportsters weren't being used to such an extent as Our Buells were/are. When was the last time you saw a 100hp sportster with 70,000 miles on it? | ||
