Actually, this post is about a solution. I just purchased the cable from navepoint and downloaded the demo ecmspy program (free). According to the ecmspy website, the demo version allows you to:

-read, display and clear error codes from a real ECM
-perform a TPS reset (DDFI and DDFI-2 only)
-run tests on actuators (fan, fuel pump, coils, injectors, ...)
-fetch EEPROM data from a real ECM and save them to a data file
-read EEPROM data from a data file and -upload them into a real ECM watch or record runtime data when connected to an ECM

I hooked everything up, but my computer wouldn't read any data from the bike. It appears you have to buy the paid version, but this is not the case. Before I could do anything, I had to go to the "EEPROM" tab, click on "load from file", then load the "dummy.epr" program. You can fetch your own ECM data, but it won't load in the free version. Only the dummy file will load. Once I did this, the program read the bike's data and the TPS reset worked like a charm. Solved all the bucking and lurching problems at low speeds and coasting rpm ranges.

You can 'connect' on the demo version without loading an EEPROM. Once connected, the diagnostic functions (including TPS reset - pre-08) will work.

Didn't work for me. Maybe it was my computer, an old laptop running XP. The status on the lower left indicated "ECM connected"... but no data came through until I loaded the dummy file. I post just for the sake of others who may have the same problem. Took me 45 minutes to figure it out.
