anyone ever replace a tps w/o doing a reset? I know I've replaced an ecm w/o a tps reset and it ran just fine till I got it reset at the dealer...
reason I ask is I've got an engine miss under load at higher rpm's. replaced plugs, intake gaskets, injector o-rings, fuel filter, I suspect a tps. the idle just doesn't "sound" right either, almost like it's dropping a cylinder every now and then : ( I might have a coil to try and swap and I know I've got wires to try... oh and another symptom was the idle got low, like down to 700 rpms low.
pulled the timing cover & don't see anything melted or anything.
after doing the intake and stuff I thought I had it. then on the way home I opened her up and it popped once right before where the rev limit would have kicked in and after that it's back to missing under load at the higher rpm's

so I was thinking about the tps. sorry long post but not happy and having some cold ones!

**oh and I replaced the temp sensor with one I had laying around. same sh*t

The answer is "Depends"
It depends on the TPS and it's values. If you happen to get one that is about the same as the original it will run but not perfect.
If you replaced an ECM and it ran, you were fortunate.
The ECM you installed had the "zero" value for the previous TPS. It must of been close or it would have run like crap.

Replace the coil and the wires before suspecting the TPS. Do you have ECMspy?

just ordered the ecm spy. finally pulled the codes= o2 code & rear injector code. swapped wires with an old set I had laying around & new plugs, o2 sensor & temp sensor. ran great for a few miles then started acting up. kept riding for 30 more miles and it continued to get worse. eventually running on one cylinder & I barely made it home! after sitting an hour while I searched the kv, went out & she runs perfect again! grrrr
