Butch, that is most likely what was done. The modification is definitely in the pocket.

Looks good Butch! I see you're using XBR mirrors as well. Did you de-arch the stems or did you not need to, as it looks like you are using the shorter ones?

Phelan:I used S2 base mirror anker on XBR mirrors. They may be shorter ones but provide great rear visibility. And used S2 mirror boots too.Got mirrors on ebay. Don,t know what ark is they where straight when I bought them.

If I'm understanding that repair correctly it is giving me the heebie jeebies!!! Everyone knows how pathetic the kickstand mechanism is on an S2. They lean over too far and tend to fold away while holding the bike up causing the bike to fall. That "pocket" is designed so that when there is weight on the stand it will lock into that "pocket" as a way to lock the stand so the bike won't roll off the stand. Without that pocket the stand is completely free to pivot even when weight is on it. I cold bent my stand forward and down so I have a good lean angle and the stand can't fold up when there is weight on it. I just could'nt walk away from my bike with a repair like this without wondering if it was going to fall. Please park that gorgeous S2 on a slight upgrade!!!

I agree that the pocket does not prevent the bike from rolling off the stand. I never even suspected there WAS a pocket, it's so ineffective.
And yes, I always park in gear facing up hill for this reason.
That is in contrast to the very effective side stand lock on Harleys.
