If this is the case, what were the differences between the two and how was it reflected in the VIN number? Seriously, there was a 1997 M2, a 1998 M2, a 1999 M2, a 2000 M2, a 2001 M2 and a 2002 M2. Any reference to a 97/98 M2 is likely parts or service literature as the model years are very similar. Where'd you see reference to a "97/98 M2"? 1313   Basti Posted on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 - 03:33 pm:        Biggest differnce between the early models are the brakes. 97 models had Pm front, Brembo rear. 98 and later models had Nissin front and back. Mine is an early 97 (VIN sequential # in the 170s)
