I had some requests in another thread to explain how in the hell I took a Thursday-Sunday trip on my S2, camped, and fit everything INSIDE the S2's bags.

So...here goes.

Trip was the 2015 WVBR - check out the other threads here on badweb about it. It's a great weekend, awesome roads, and incredible hosts.

Bike? My 95 S2 with factory S2T bits - wide bags, lowered pegs, fairing lowers. I also used a Buell "deluxe" tank bag, and Buell fairing bags for little stuff.

Gear? A North Face 10 degree rated mummy bag, with a compression sack for packing. A Eureka! Apex XT 3-man dome, fiberglass poles, double vestibules (rectangle tent, hexagonal rain fly).

Clothing? One trash bag with six pairs of socks, four pair of boxers. One trash bag with four tee shirts and three pairs of gym shorts. One trash bag with bath towel and face cloth. And one pair of Columbia river shoes.

Other stuff? Buell deluxe toolkit, mounted to the inner surface of the left saddlebag. Slime compact air compressor with rope plug kit, stowed in a Ulysses underseat pouch, carried in the tank bag. Buell packable rain suit (tank bag). 1 quart Syn3 (tank bag). iPod touch (tank bag). Android phone (tank bag). electronics charged by a power outlet connected to my (not used in August) heated gear plug. I also had a slime air pressure gauge (digital/tank bag), 20 Propel vitamin water mix tubes, Nikon Coolpix S3000 point-n-shoot (tank bag), and eyeglasses in a hard case (tank bag) in case I had issues with the contacts I was wearing.

And...it all fit INSIDE the 3 pieces of luggage.

Sleeping bag (the compression sack is the key!):

Tent:

...and the solitary item that didn't fit in a bag on the way home because I bought it on the trip - a Coleman twin size air mattress (yeah, I'm old and I gave in...sue me). But, it bungee-netted nicely to the passenger seat for the trip home (and I got the air compressor for it to fit inside the left saddlebag):

If you want, you can visit mjrphoto.net - Mike (Rkc00) took a nice foggy early-morning shot of the bike and tent the first morning, you can get an idea the size of the tent set up.

So...yes, it CAN be done. Just gotta have the right gear! : )
