Have been chasing a steering lock for an Buell S1 but as with a lot of parts for these bikes its just not available anywhere. I noticed a very similar lock is used on old Ducatis and BMWs. Turns out its called a Neiman Lock but it appears the company have gone out of business. Lots of these locks around but finding one with the Buells 3/4in locking pin is still a problem. Would be interested to hear if any of you tuber Buell owners may know a source for these locks? | ||

Neimann was a German firm its called now GKS http://www.gks-locks.de/ You can get them trough ebay Germany or early HD Sportsters used the same lock | ||

Contacted GKS but they stopped making this lock 4 years ago. Did find a Germany bike parts shop that does stock them. Company called Kickstarter.de. They sell em on Ebay to suit older Harleys but you can get them cheaper from their online store. Buell S1 lock is 44mm long including an 18mm steel pin | ||

I called a local Harley dealer (June 2014) and used part No.48140-84A and he ordered a new key/lock set which took about two weeks to get. Say it's for a Sporty, don't even mention the word Buell. Good Luck! | ||

Forgive me, but...why? I understand a restoration, and wanting everything to work as designed, but a steering lock? Make it look correct, and use a cable or brake disc lock to secure the bike. If they want it...it's a 400 lb sportbike. Couple big guys, they pick it up and carry it away. | ||

Simply a small deterrent and maybe a little piece of mind against the “wanna be” hanging out in the parking lot. I agree with RAT, I don't care how many so called anti-theft devices you lug around, if they really want it they will take it. Locks and chains are merely an inconvenience for the would-be thief. The longer it takes; they are less they are willing to hassle with it. A steering lock is a simple easy way to prevent the “Impulse grab” by some a-hole who walks up when you dash into the store and rolls it off. For me it's nice to know it's there when I think I may need just a wee bit of protection from some parking lot crook. Better to have and not need it then it is to need it and not have it. | ||

How about going to a lock smith and having a key made? Mine has always been able to take care of my needs with no drama. |
