I have searched Badweb to no avail! Does anyone know if there are HD plug leads the same as my '98 M2 Cyclone, part numbers 31986-86 and 31995-83?
Or, alternatively, are there better leads to be found?
Running stock coil and leads may not be the best option, I haven't found much info on this, but I would prefer to be able to find some locally, (Western Australia).

31986-86 and 31995-83 are straight up H-D part numbers.

Outside of their roughly 20 year age, any H-D dealer should be able to provide these part numbers.

Over the years I've tried alternate (aftermarket) spark plug wires and never noticed much difference so I've reverted to stock on my S2 Thunderbolt.

But my experience is just a data point,

When you go to the HARLEY-DAVIDSON parts person and you say BUELL they will go brain dead on you ...

Just tell them you want PART NUMBERS 31986-86 "FRONT" and 31995-83 "REAR" ...

These are SPORTSTER Part Numbers, after all the TUBE FRAMES have SPORTSTER Engines in them !!!

Ask for a sporster belt and they will have 3 in stock : )

would only depend, mounting point for the coil, like if a sportster has its coil in around same location as buell. like the spark plug leads just have to fit & seal at plug & fit and seal at coil and just be able to reach the plugs they flow currant too. not made by HD or Buell. i have never had trouble buying Buell parts at a HD dealer if they find they still stock or have stock of the part if it is obsolete too bad, think even HD models over ten years of age some parts become obsolete . go and ask to buy Panhead parts

You have been fortunate Lakes. The W.A HD dealership that once sold Buells will not even try, their standard response is "we don't do Buell parts". This, from the dealer who initially sold and serviced, (read; overtightened belt, primary chain etc), is appalling, as far as I am concerned! I often wonder what sweet Buell parts may be lost on a shelf somewhere in their parts dept.

Drive belt: Have had issues with the Gates belts. Crack and break along the "ribs" that run across the back. Local mechanic states other Harley owners are seeing the same failures for stock Harley belts which look nearly identical to the Gates.

Personally I have moved to BDL Falcon Carbon Fiber Belt, (part # 602-610), purchased through JP Cycle.

Parts: American Sport Bike is my favorite. With the Buell or Harley part number, I have been very happy with surdyke.com.
Have not tried them, but others have posted about buellsterparts.com.

My limited experience with St. Paul Harley is that they don't seem to have any bad attitudes about Buells. They even still have a Buell sign on the outside of the building.

Ya, Lance has helped me out too. Very nice guy. Good to know about Zylstra. I've ridden past them many times but not stopped in. Maybe will do so later.

Are you any closer to getting that jewel of yours on the road yet or what? I get the sense that you do everything yourself, but if you want any help, I'm not too far from you. You can also test ride my M2 and tell me if it is as good as I think it is.

Let me know.
