I'm seeing alot of pictures with a polished finish on the rear pulley, i have PM wheels and am about to swap my swingarm for a polished X1 style, the polished pulley looks awesome with this, how easy is this to do? I am at sea currently so dont have bike in front of me to assess/plan, trying to plan ahead : D

Thx

It's easy
Use aircraft paint stripper and then sand by hand with 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit sandpaper.
Then use a metal polish and you're done!

Or you can buy any sportster pulley and have a machine shop increase the diameter of the center hole.

I had a retired machinist increase the diameter of my S1's chrome sportster pulley. The chrome at the edge was completely undisturbed.

rip papa Fred.

FWIW: aluminum is very dangerous. all that wet sanding with what is basically soaking your hands with a water aluminum slurry, right? At the very least wear nitrile gloves! that stuff is bad news.

According to that article, getting it on your hands doesn't result in any significant amount entering your bloodstream, and what little does is immediately removed by the kidneys. Were you joking?

Funny sounds easy! Its not technically hard but it is a fare amount of labor not just an hour or two.

hootowl - I would think that a few hours of soaking in that stuff would be a bit more intense...

ulysses - THX, very thoughtful...

I did it once to both side cases an old iron head, it stains your hands pretty well...
