A couple of related issues. The rear brake pedal doesn't bounce all the way back. It also takes a good bit of pressure on the pedal to active the brake light. So I ordered the rebuild kit for the rear brake master cylinder and see if that fixes the issues. Anyone else has had these issues and have rebuilt the master cylinder? Should I have ordered the switch at the same time? Any tips would be welcomed. Thanks. | ||

Did you try bleeding the brake? With age the liquid gets moisture, and looses properties. | ||

Kal, consider annual fluid change for the brake fluid. Lafayette, suggested it to be some years ago, its worked well. | ||

My cylinder was worn and would not hold a seal rebuilt it twice. Had to buy a new cylinder American Sport bike (sponsor here ) has them | ||

Thanks. I change the brake fluid every other year. What I do is open the bleeder screw and run about a pint through by pumping the pedal/lever and catching the fluid on one end and keep pouring on the other end while making sure the reservoir doesn't go empty. I'm thinking maybe the spring in the rear master cylinder is getting a little lazy. Looks like the rebuild kit comes with a new spring. It's not leaking. | ||

I would not rebuild it if it is not leaking. I have experienced a weird feel here in the past like you describe. I unbolted the assembly loose then reattached. It felt 200 times better after that. |
