Macy and I are still in. Making a stop in Thompson Falls Montana for the fourth of July on the way. We will be on our RT's as we plan doing over 5000 miles this trip. We traded Macy's S3 for a 06 RT, so with three of them in the garage I will be selling my '03. I am seriously considering selling my S2 if someone wanted to fly out here and ride it to the rally. Has brand new tires,just an oil change and she is ready to go. | ||

Just a couple of minor mechanical tweaks and we'll be ready to head out in two weeks.  Failing that, we'll be on a Ducati. | ||

Is that one of those dreaded rabbit holes?? "hey my seat is a little loose and fits poorly maybe I'll pull it off and take a look...as long as the seat is off....." WOW! I'd have to take vacation to get that bike back together in time for the event!! GOOD LUCK! | ||

I have faith in Eric. With the right tools, it can be done rather quickly. I installed a 1250 kit in my friend Bryan's S2 here at the shop and it took little over a day, including cleaning his heads, lapping the valves, and installing new valve seals. | ||

Rabbit hole indeed. Primary was off to replace stator. Thought I'd replace the oilpump drive gear. Turned out I already had and had forgotten. But taking off the rockerboxes to take off the cam cover revealed a stripped hole for the rockers, which required taking off the head..... But it was all supposed to be next winter's project until the other S2 blew a head gasket last week. No vacation and in fact I'm holding open a back-up job by working seven days a week til my current job goes belly up. I do have June 27th off. We're leaving July 3. | ||

Eric- We will be gone before you leave. We are taking off on the 1st or 2nd to be in Thompson Falls MT for the 4th plus a couple of days of fun before turning south to CO. Good luck to you for getting it back together in time. Just remember, it's the ride, not what you ride. Shane | ||

We'll be in Lewiston for the 4th. Lolo Pass to somewhere south of Missoula, then two days, I think, at Lava Hotsprings. The second day there probably shoots a hole in getting to detour to ride the Million Dollar Highway but stopping to smell the roses (or to get liquored up) is better than just busting miles every day. Oh. And neither Harley dealer in the area has wristpin clips in stock. There's 50 in Toronto and they could get me one by next Tuesday. Fortunately, I found an independent shop that splurges on stocking stock. | ||

This snuck up on me, and I'm going to bail on attending this year. The room I had called The Bird is open. I had it for the 10th and 11th. It's the room nearest the river, has a kitchen, and two beds. | ||

I wish I would be able to make the S2 gathering on the S2 (1250^) that Ross just finished, but I have a slight oil leak from the primary that I can't get fixed. But I'll be there on my 12R | ||

I always set out on these trips with a gnawing fear in the background. Its gone now as we've taken care of the disaster early on. We usually strap the saddlebags shut. Forgot. Evacced my stuff and couldn't find it on a twenty mile backtrack. Lost an EricBuell and the Thunderbolts t shirt. À 2009 S2 rally t, but Jaci has one. A Clarksdale Mississippi t, which I can probably replace. A few sundries. And the inner bag it was in, which I have are of. And a carton of smokes, which is probably what popped the bag open, and now we have to smoke frigging Marlboros all week. |
