took the bike out for a nice little ride, about 50 miles and let a friend who has owned s1 buells in the past and currently owns an x1 and xb12x take it for a ride to see his opinion on some noises and other things i wasnt sure about, he went around the block and was just about back when it quit on him. cranked and cranked and wouldnt restart. we got it back to the house and checked it out a little and it wasnt getting spark. checked the power and ground to the coil, and looked good from what i remember, sorry its been a few weeks since this happened. i bought a new coil and still didnt start, but the plug wire on the no.1 cylinder came apart, so i ordered a set of plug wires. a couple days ago i replaced the plugs and plug wires. still no start. checked for power to coil and that was good on the terminal to the left if looking at the coil. i assume the other terminal is ground and that had no voltage or maybe 1v when i put the meter between that and pos. battery terminal. nothing if i put it to ground. decided to pull the plug and ground it to check spark on no.1 cylinder and it was sparking. did the same on the no.2 and no spark. trying to figure out what i should check next or any ideas. thanks in advance

Hard to Say, but i've never had a coil go south on me, riding HD since 70's.
had ignition modules fail, once had the crank trigger fail.
how old is the battery & what ignition are you using?
also did you check fuses & the wiring ? like a flat wire can cause problems like that sometimes.
good luck

Fairly new battery. Checked fuses and they are good. Looked at the wires from coil all the way back to the ground. Didn't notice anything that stuck right out as broken or flattened. It is all stock ignition and replaced with hd coil and wires. Old coil had very little resistance when checked.
