Most of the S2 signal lights I've had break have broken mid-shaft. Since the shaft is separate from the light itself, I've decided that it shouldn't be hard to make replacement shafts out of either aluminum or plastic that would look similar or possibly identical to the stockers. I only have a drillpress with a milling bit and slide table so its not something I can make in bulk, given the time required. Probably a next-winter project. In the meantime, don't throw out your old broken signals. I may want them or be able to offer a chance to return them to service.

I asked about that very project in one of the sidestand threads...I'd be in for two sets, as a buddy of mine also has a couple busted signals (original owner S2T).

Going to swap my fronts to the rear (seems only the rears break?), and put XB signals up front, just to get 'er on the road for the season.

Fronts break, I think when the front isolator is failing. Ask me how I know. Brand new set broke in a day.
I'm using XBs on the back because my rear luggage rack doesn't accommodate the stockers.

We'll see how my "lab time" sorts out next winter. I'll post pics when the time comes.

Yep, mine has broken several times. I think it is the age......I will come home after a trip, after putting a new one on, and it is sitting there, broken in half. My isolator looks good. I think after a while, they just wear out....

The 1995 Triumph Daytona indicators are a very close match. Much better quality than the Buell items at $46.00 each.

We just have to accept that the S2 kickstand design and turn signals are total crap.

Bernard,

Thanks for the link. I had no idea there was a close match out there.

Another one bites the dust.

The '95 did awesome at the WVBR - nearly 1000 miles in 4 days, didn't use a drop of oil. carried all my crap IN the bags:

3 man tent
10 degree sleeping bag
6 pairs of socks
3 sets of clothes (boxers, shorts, tees)
rain gear
buell tool roll
Slime air compressor and rope plug kit
quart of Syn3

and she looked good : ) Check out www.mjrphoto.net for Mike's (Rkc00) photos of the event. For those who don't frequent quickboard.

Time to tape another one back together, till I get off my ass and order a set of triumph lights...this was strictly plastic fatigue. 20 years of vibration finally got to it, and she came off in the middle of a 4 hour, 80mph highway run home.

How did you get a 3 man tent and sleeping bag INSIDE your bags?

Back in the day when I got started motojourneycamping, I had to find the smallest danged tent I could to fit inside the S2 saddlebags - and yes, they were the deep ones. I ended up with a hiking tent. A small 1 person tent that I had to slide into. All the grief I was given about my 'burrito tent'...

I guess it's a moot point now because the last time I went camping was with a huge (relatively) hiker tent that I strapped onto my V-Rod for some Harley focused bike event MANY years ago.

That tent did strap nicely onto my Uly's triple tail however (VIR, and maybe other places)...

I can take some once I repack my tent - it and my mattress were soaked from dew when I packed up, they're set up in the garage drying now. Go to mjrphoto.net to see stuff set up.

The tent is a Eureka! 3 man, fiberglass poles with 12" (ish) sections, sits perfectly in a saddlebag diagonally. Bag is a NorthFace 10 degree bag in a compression sack, compressed it's less than 10" in any direction.

Thanks Ratbuell, do you or anybody else actually have good luck with these triumph units?

Anybody have a picture or can verify the Triumph - Bike Bandit ones are actually close to stock?

I would hate to spent $200 for a full set then find out they're way different
