It also takes a large socket (1 & 7/8") for the transmission sprocket nut and a good breaker bar. I used a 3' breaker bar, drenched the nut in pb blaster, and it still took a fair amount of pressure. | ||

Havnt tried yet, I need to swap a sprocket from 29 to 27 tooth, but it's low on the list! I'm neck deep in a few Guzzi projects getting them finished for this season.... I bought the tool so that it was available as soon as I was ready... | ||

If you have an old belt or just a section of belt, you can rig that up to work as a holder. | ||

eBay and I would suggest the socket also as a standard socket is rounded these work much better  | ||

Folks have used a piece of broken belt glued to a triangular block of wood with good effect also. Might save you a few bucks...if you've got an old belt handy. | ||

Jim knows his chit. You may be thinking of the stator, which has been know to be damaged using an impact. | ||

Yep aware of that just have heard iys a no no but a impact would not move mine and I have a very strong impact. | ||

Specialty tools are handy and I love them but sometimes some stuffs around you work wonderfully good. I personally wouldn't use an impact gun on that nut or any other nut sitting at the end of a shaft riding on a bearing. Just too worried about damage to the bearing. | ||

I bought the tool set with the socket assembly included. I was in a tool buying mode, and it made the list. I'm with kalali, can or should are sometimes two different things...HOWEVER...it does raise the question, if the sprocket is locked with the tool, then the tool carries the impact load of the air driver, not the bearing set or the shaft...right????....am I missing something in the equation that I should rethink this approach? planning on using a breaker and extension...but...what if...? | ||

An impact is fine if you are using the sprocket holder. The impact is transferred to the holder, not the transmission/clutch. | ||
