Guys

For anyone on an S3 or S3T...

I'm finally getting around to new tires and wondering what size you put on the rear?

I've been running 170/60x17 on the rear and from what I can find the PR2's and 3's folks are recommending don't come in that size. Am I going to have a fit or clearance issue going to a 180/55 x 17?

Thanks

The 180 will definitely clear everything with no issues.

IIRC the PM wheels are 1/2 inch wider than the standards wheels and are better-suited to the 180 tire, but the 180 will fit on either style wheel.

Actually some 180s rub. I had a Shinko 180 that rubbed the fender hugger. Not many, but a few. Just depends on the tire profile.

I have a 99 S3 and have used 180/55 x 17s on both stock and PM wheels, neither of these setups rubbed.
Current setup is stock wheels with Michelin Road 4, the wider PM wheels had Dunlops.
Not sure about other brands.

To clarify, I think its more about brand. The Shinko I had ran tall. The Conti Trail Attacks seemed smaller but I had already pulled the hugger at that point.
