I've read that the rear S2 brake is not very effective.
I put new pads in mine, and when riding I can barely feel any difference whether I'm standing on the brake or not.

Is that normal, is it that bad?

they suck ))

better off carrying an anchor around with you

I consider it an E brake, for the o crap moments, but almost never touch it.

braided line & better pads help it

I've been using a PM 4 piston as a rear caliper for about 20 years - works great.

I put a dual piston rear caliper and master cylinder on mine off of a Ducati Monster. Now the bike has a real rear brake. The original rear brake felt like I was pressing on a 2X4. A massive front brake and a weenie rear brake is no doubt the hot setup on the track, but on the street where loose sand and gravel are sometimes encountered, having a usable rear brake is a good thing for me.

4speeder I saw that in another thread which I bookmarked. Does the master bolt in the OEM position? Any brackets needed for that?

I was wondering how thick the caliper bracket you made is?
Appreciate any info you can give, because that looked like a good setup.

Thanks

Heya Johnod, The master cylinder was a 100% bolt on with zero modifications.
The caliper required fabricating a new mounting plate. It's either 3/16 or 1/4, I'll have to look and let you know.

Johnod, I just ran out to the garage and checked and I made the caliper bracket out of 1/4" plate.

4speeder, did you try it with the stock Buell master first?

Johnod, yes I did try the stock MC with the new rear caliper and it wouldn't get the job done. I contacted the ebay guy that I got the caliper from and asked if he had the MC off the same bike and he did so I bought it. I cant remember what the difference in the piston diameters were between the two, but the Ducati MC made a big difference and the brake worked like I would expect a rear brake to work.

any chance you're taking orders for production of the bracket???

This of course is why none of my Buells will ever really be "done".....
