I am looking for a bike to make longer trips and considering a s3 with 8k miles and a little work exhaust etc. $2500. I currently have a S2 which is fine for a couple of hours and the m2 is good for long trips as long as weather is nice. Will the S3 give more comfort for longer trips? | ||

its a terrible bike, you will hate it... give me the contact info and I will save you the pain...  ITS A GREAT BIKE!! My S2 is the sexy girl of the two but my S3T is the work horse long weekend get away, more comfy or more "relaxed" of the two... its been said here multiple times.. you sit IN an S2 and ON an S3 I've got both and love em both... but to me they kinda serve two different purposes even though I have S3T bags on both bikes.. Ive taken my S3T on a few weekend trips and really like it for that, its also my commuter of choice and I commute across DC traffic 55 miles each way to work, which in DC means 1.5 to 2.0 hours each way.....the S3T sits me up taller and more in a position for "head on a swivel" type riding but still quite sporty enough for some fun back roads even with loaded bags. for 2500 you cant go wrong and I think, as a guy who owns one of each, that you will be very happy with having both an S2 and an S3... what else can I say to help push you off the ledge except...BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!! hopefully that helps......  | ||

I had a S3 for awhile and it was a very comfy bike, even with the pegs relocated higher. The upright position was very welcoming coming from a 1125 and X1. I would check out the body work pretty closely as they do crack but $2500 sounds reasonable to me. | ||

Minor cracks such as the license plate holder respond well to superglue. Front fenders and windshields can be purchased from aftermarket manufacturers. I bought my '99 new and have no regrets it. Comfy seat, S3T handlebars never hurt my wrists, and the power is more than enough for city traffic or twisty mountain roads. Buy it. | ||

Some different feedback: I just got an S3T. Previous bike was a VStrom 650 dual purpose, which was used for what you describe... The S3T is better, it has less wind buffeting, and above 70 it vibrates less! Go get it. | ||

well I think I am going to pass, for anyone in the bay area, http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/mcy/5008575165.htm l its a little rough,looks like has been outside, but very saveable. I just see myself buying and then spending to fix everything - my M2 story. I think I will hold out for a XT. Two tubes is enough for now. | ||
