Are the S3 bars the same bend for 97-98 as well as 99-2002?

Thanks

I believe they are, but there is a lower S3 bar and a higher S3T bar

I don't have the measurements, but can tell just by looking at them.

I'll guess and say the S3 bars have maybe a 4" rise and the S3T bars have a 6" rise.

Do you want to know what you have or are you looking for bars?

My '99 S3 came with the short bars when I bought it new, but the taller bars slipped right on without the need to change any cables or brake lines. Made a big difference to my wrists and lower back to be a few inches higher and at a slightly better angle.

IIRC, the S3T (taller) bars are the same as used on the Blast.

My S3T bars have what appears to be a 5 1/2" rise.

watch out for tank/fairing clearance if you use something other than the stock bars.

Sounds as though the S3T bars will be the option of choice.

Thanks all

Standard S3 bars are the same as S1W bars (which are different than S1 bars), while S3T bars are the same as Blast bars. I fit the S3T bars on my S3, but it was tight and I had to move some of the wire ties (though the later models seem to have a little more slack in the wiring). By the way, the 97/99 M2 bars are different than either the S1 or S3 bars and are a nice compromise on an S1.

How do the X1 bars compare with the rest of the line up?

X1, M2, and S3 are virtually the same, if not literally the same. There's a slight difference between S3T and Blast, in the width of the low part where the triple clamp bolts to. The part numbers don't seem to correspond consistently with observed measurements for some reason.

I recently installed X1 bars on an S3T. The horn button just barely misses the tank, but I like the slightly more dedicated riding position.
