Just curious how many people are using the full system and the pros and cons of it. What kind of power it makes excreta.

I have the full system on my X1. D&D designed the full system to use the unmodified race ecm map. With this map it makes more and broader torque and more peak hp than the full buell race system. Some say it is too loud, but I find it to be on par with the buell race exhaust. It is also, by far, the most durable exhaust you can fit to a tuber. It does, however, require the Y type exhaust hangar bracket.

+1 on what hootowl said. Very well built and great sounding as well. Loud yes but so are most of the aftermarket

D&D is a quality piece, but didn't fit my 2000 Lightning without putting a dent in the rear pipe to clear the frame. I communicated with Al about it. No response from D&D.

It should come with a sticker that says "D&D, LOUD AS F@$K"

If you had to dent the pipe to get it to clear the frame, you've not installed it correctly. There should be plenty of room.

my 96s1 has 105K miles and a D&D megaphone that has been gutted and welded up. Excellent quality.

Is this bracket really needed?

Yes. The D&D exhaust uses the stock Z bracket. The rear mount is a slip fit clamp that has offset mount points that align with that stock bracket.

If you're missing the stock bracket, you may also be missing the rubber pieces that attach it to the swingarm support block.

Hootowl and 01x1buell,

How could I possibly not install it correctly? It only bolts on in a few places. I followed the instructions repeatedly. I am a pretty good mechanic. The exhaust I was supplied touched the frame.

Hoot, i'm profoundly deaf due to an accident when i was 14, i'm 67 now. i can hear loud noises.
i asked people who live near my house if the exhaust was loud they said no they did not mind the sound, & did not disturb them. when i drag race the bike in street class they tell you if your bike is too loud & you have to fix it or can't race in Street class.
might be what other bikes your used to riding , or the way you ride?

If you have a stock muffler to use as a template, I can build a replacement. Just need it to make sure the mount points are correct.

Lakes, I was just kidding. I don't think they're that loud either.

Sprink, no idea. I know several folks with the full kit, and there were no interference issues.
