The side support is broken just above the mounting bolt on my 1996 S2T. I'd like to affix a strip of plastic behind it for repair. Is it ABS?

The factory 1996 S2 front fender was epoxy resin fiberglass.

Later S3 front fenders - which look pretty similar - were injection molded. The exact plastic escapes me, however.

What color is the base material? If it's a beige or tan color (kind of like the background on Badweb) it's the epoxy resin fiberglass. If it's black, it's plastic.

Can you post or Email me (dedsld AT yahoo.com) pictures?

S3 Fenders are ABS.

I had a break like you describe that I repaired with fibre glass cloth and ABS cement -- this was an S3 ABS fender.

I'll bet you could do the repair on your S2 fender with fibre glass cloth and epoxy.
--Cut a couple of pieces of the cloth to the size you need.
-- lay down a bed of epoxy on the fender
-- press in the cloth
repeat with epoxy and the second layer of cloth. Allow to dry depending on the epoxy instructions.

Thanks for your replies. I haven't gotten to it yet, but if its fibreglass, that certainly makes the repair easier. I've actually got some kevlar and CF bits of fabric to donate to the project.

The fender on my son's 96 S2 is fiberglass.
