I just picked up another hugger for my S2 and the belt guard portion is rubbing part of the frame tube, is this normal there are rub marks on both huggers and my frame so I assume it has been like that quite a while.

I just noticed that both huggers have a rub guard and they are both installed differently.

I have an article (I'll have to hunt to for it) on how to manipulate the mounts to reduce the rubbing.

Typical. Not desired, but typical. Analysis work by someone named Abe showed no concerns on structure.

If they weren't prone to do it, the rub guard would not be there.

Screamer - Can you please copy me on distribution of that article?

On my bike the rub guard was something I had to buy and install. That would explain the different placement.

John, its a rubber piece that looks like the letter E, and sticks onto the hugger.

Hopefully someone else can pick up my slack with closer, more detailed photos...

That is how the guard is installed on the currently installed hugger, I actually thought that one would have been the incorrect one. I will post pictures when I get home this evening if no one else has posted. It seems like it is almost a hard rubber material.

Teflon, or at least we referred to it as the 'Teflon wear guard' back in the day.

I could always see how mis-application could happen...

I'm out of town, and unable to look for it but I may still have the rub guard placement instructions. When I'm back - I'll look for it (and the Battle2win article on tweaking the hugger mount).

I installed mine the solid side down. I had instructions, but can't remember doing the install. I probably followed the instructions. More rubbing surface this way.

Some morsels from Screamer...

Some appear to be vintage photos from when the Teflon wear guard was introduced.

And the rear fender adjustment article:

A veritable trip through memory lane...
