[Edit: Autofill overwrote my post title... damn it] It seems the last shop that changed my front tire really put the front brake retaining pin in very tightly. I tried to remove it with a flathead screwdriver and it started to strip... am I doing something wrong here?

Probably the most important thing is to get a LARGE flat bladed screwdriver with a tip that will just barely fit into the slot. A too-small tip will "cam out" easily and booger up the screw like yours is doing. Some mild heat (hair dryer or heat gun) may help break it loose. A little penetrating oil may help as well. |
