Make that 748. I snagged one this summer and will not be giving it up forseeably soon.

I'd be curious to know how many are still road'able (not wrecked or "converted" into something else)...

I've got an 02 X1W that runs pretty well.

Gotta love the blue intestines (how a friend once referred to the exhaust headers).

Dutch – was that 749 in '02, or all years combined?

The blue pipes always remind me of Britten motorbikes, I might try blue sometime

X1Ws were a one year only bike 2002 just like the S1Ws were 1998 only

Other than the color scheme there was no difference compared to a regular X1, was there?

The 749 number came from the number of blue ceramic headers ordered by Buell from the supplier. Which would include ones for retail sales for the catalog and wrecked units. If I remember correctly their was no VIN difference from a "normal" run of the mill X1. Therefore no way to tell exactly how many x1w's were made. Cool rare units none the less!

749 blue ceramic headers include american and european headers?

American 2.5
European 2.0

KC, they are identical to other X1's, aside from white plastics and blue ceramic coated headers.

I really have no idea. That's just what I remember from reading about the bikes over the years. Whether that's true or not I don't know.

It may be odd for someone with so many black Buell's to say this, but I've always been a bit partial to the X1W.

If I remember correctly their was no VIN difference from a "normal" run of the mill X1.

That's my recollection too,

Might need a different metric to go by - mine has silver ceramic pipes and it's a low mileage bike so I have no reason to believe they were changed out.
