Looks like winter is here to stay now in Ohio. We have had a decent amount of snow already.
There have been a few days in the 50’s over the last couple weeks to ride after the snow melt, but I think Autumn has finally let go.
This past summer has been a great weather riding season here.
The older I get the more envious I become of the warm weather climates that a lot of your guys live in. To be able to ride comfortably year round would be way cool. Layering up in 5 sweaters, insulated coveralls, 3 pairs of socks, and one inch thick insulated gloves is just not much fun, especially on twisty roads that in summer leather you can fly down. When I’m all bundled up like that I feel like I have very little control over the machine, especially when confronted with a mess of loose sand and cinders in a turn from an earlier snowfall. So the Raging Buell and the Guzzi will go to the barn to sleep away the next few months under their sheets until the spring crocuses appear. Batteries on the bench for charging, fuel tanks full with stabilizer added, engines ran with the gas shut off until they quit, and cylinders sprayed with fogging oil. The beater 35 year old dirt bike stays out for short rides around the cut bean fields, providing the 2-wheel therapy that will keep me charged. It’s time to drag the snowblower out and get it ready to work. It does have handlebars, so that is something. For all you guys that enjoy warm weather in the winter, please ride safe, and don’t take your weather for granted!

Plenty of foreclosures down here in Florida for everyone.

Summers can be brutal though, which seems more apparent as I age.

There is no way I could live up North. 50s and I am looking for my thermals.

I like the look too. Can you get me more close up shots of the tank and the tail.

And what kind of flyscreen? M2 ?

Thanks guys for the nice comments. I have some info on my profile page here. The flyscreen is homemade from thin plexiglass and I painted it black on the inside. It mounts under the two headlight bolts. When I made the aluminum gauge panel I formed the radius and length of the panel to mate up to the backside of the flyscreen so it looks like everything "belongs". Stationary rear fender is for a dirt bike that I cut and shaped to fit up under the subframe and tail section so it looks like a factory item. Belt guard is made from aluminum stock. Not sure what the headlight originally came from. Maybe a Lightning? Front fender is an S3 item. The tail was part of the deal when I bought the whole project for next to nothing. I don't know where it came from or who made it. It fits really well and the stock S2 seat fits it. The rear subframe is cut and shortened about 3 inches so everything fits up better. I had to fabricate the mounts for the taillight and signals. The speedometer that came with it was hose clamped to the right handlebar and the entire front wiring harness looked like it had been hacked off with bolt cutters and was missing. Every piece of the S2 bodywork was gone or busted up from numerous wrecks. I sold the bondo layered front fairing and clubby S2 front fender to another guy here on the board. There was a spare rear shock assembly in the deal so I put it on and it was better than the one that was under it. Rear tire had cords showing all around and the front was dry rotted. It had been a project that passed through a couple guys that messed with it a little but never came up with a sensible design plan, cash, or time to finish it. It was in bad shape but was the perfect project for me to think through and finish to my liking. It is one of the funnest bikes I've ever owned or ridden. The good news for all the guys that are miffed by the bike not being a stocker is that there are no changes to this bike that could not be reversed easily and put back to stock, if someone ever wanted to put that much cash into it. I am old enough to recall the days when the Harley Sportster guys I knew were outraged when Erik Buell took their beloved Sportster engine and tried to make a stupid sport bike with it. The Japanese made those, not Americans. That was encroaching on hallowed XR750 ground not to be messed with. What was this punk engineer thinking!!! I enjoy my S2 the way I have it. I ride my Guzzi when I want to be behind a windscreen. The next guy might want to restore the S2 and that is totally cool. I will try to get some pics together. This site doesn't have a "gallery" section for folks to put multiple pics of their bikes does it?
