is there any difference quality wise
between the HD voltage regulator or Accel
as over here in UK the HD is £143 the Accel
is £70 ..??? for a 2001 X1

I'd go with Accel as a matter of course. Their stator works really well, I can attest to that one.

The biggest hurdle for the Accel could be fitment. I put an aftermarket VR on my Ulysses and had to fabricate a mount as well as improvise the electrical connections, because the new VR wasn't a physical match to the motorcycle.

Electronically, I wouldn't be afraid of Accel.
