Last weekend I took a little trip down to Texas and brought back the Battle Of Champions runner-up #9 piloted by Jay Springsteen, the transaction had been five years in the making. I also came across the Race winning bike rode by Pascal Picotte a couple years ago. Neither bike has seen 500 miles since the "race", and #9 is as raced save the battery and tires. So here they are together.
During HD's 95th party the B.O.C was a race of 10 of HD's best riders, i'll let anybody who was there fill in a little more background.

Very cool . . . . I recall spending time with the bikes being prepared . . .and the excitement the day of the race (when Erik was presented with the RW750)

I saved all the leftover swag from the day . . . . shirts, hats and so forth and a case of the left over Snao-On gap gauges that were given to folks arriving.

It was an awesome and and in the days prior to digital cameras . . . fortunately I showed up for a pair of Minoltas and 4 - 36EXP rolls of Kodachrome. (you young guys will have to google it . . . it's what was called "film")

Great time . . . great memories.

Thanks guys
Status of the others, after the race they were sold or given to dealers I believe. I know where #30 of Tom Wilson sits, and Higbees Third Place yellow #3 ( the red #3 with same graphics in the link below is not one of the bikes) is in the Harley museum. I am going to have to send them some info sometime, I asked what they knew about the bike and got this response "I didn’t find much in the record, other than it was raced by Buell employee Shawn Higbee, who won the race with this bike. There’s also a note that the airbox was replaced with a Sportster air cleaner, and the belt guard was removed for racing. There may have been more modifications, but these aren’t noted in the record." Ha not quite
And besides that I have notes somewhere and a good idea of the whereabouts of two or three others. If anybody has any information please let me know.
When fireman Jim owned #30 he took it to a show and happens to be talking to the owners of two of the other bikes, out of ten bikes three owners meet in Cali 10 years after the race, what's the chances.

I sure would love to see video, didn't you have your phone with video with you Court?
I should have taken pictures if the shift levers before is put them away for the winter, I noticed that Springsteen specifically managed to grind about 25% of the toe peg off in a matter of probably 20-50 laps

I believe Thunder Mtn HD in Loveland, CO has one sitting on display in the balcony. There phone number is 970-292-0400 Ask to talk to Mike Coury in parts and he should be able to help.

From the virtual tour on their website:

I doubt the S1 is a BOC bike

Left:
S1 race bike, which I really doubt is a BOC bike.

Right:
Large body M2, definitely not a BOC bike.

All BOC bikes were '98 S1W's with black frames,

Interesting that those Springsteen bikes don't have a front dual disc setup. I suppose they weren't available until later?
