I have already worked up a conversion block that fits in the saddle for cast in risers to convert to 1 1/8 handlebars and wanted the same to complete my 96 S1. however, the block wouldn't quite fit correctly in the bolt in risers. Found that there was a design change between bolt in risers and cast in risers. In the early bolt in risers the flat mating surfaces are higher in the back (stepped) and lower in the front, in the cast in risers its reversed...
so back to the drawing board quite literally..... |

I have found my favorite set of bars to run on the S1 or even the X1 and wanted to use the same bars on the 96. they are much flatter than stock bars so I wanted a one inch rise built in to the risers, and I wanted a one piece bolt in riser block instead of 2 independent blocks. I also wanted the connecting surface to curve around the steering stem bolt so that adjustments could be made without pulling the entire assembly. With the one inch rise I needed to tuck the gauges back down lower below the fly screen so I used the design element of the X1 top bar clamp/gauge mount since its a lower profile than the one used on the S1. I needed to borrow a set of riser and a top tree to send off to the machinist to get all measurements correct and I wanted to leave my bike as a roller. Thank you to KMBUELL and BLKS1l for loaning me a top tree and a set of bolt in risers! Finished product from the machinist..
