While at Thunder Beach last weekend, my tach quit working. When I got home I switched the tach out with another one with the same result (nothing registers). I changed the TPS today, but still nothing registers. Can anyone suggest a possible fix? Thanks!!!

If your bike has a wiring system similar to the one on my X-1 . . . .

Having switched tachs with no result, I suspect the tach is not getting a signal from the ECM. Take a multimeter and and confirm good continuity on the P/K (pink) wire from the ECM to the back of the tach. Could be a loss of signal at connector 39.

Hope this helps, Dave

You might try routing the signal wire from the tach right to either signal side of the coil and/or check the power lead to the tach.

Since you are going to be in there, would not hurt to confirm that the black wire is a clean ground, and the orange wire is a clean 12V source when the ign is on.

And when doing all of the checks, don't forget to turn the handlebars back and forth, and pull/tug/wiggle the wiring harness around the headlight and the steering stem.

Hope this helps, Dave. And glad to try and help.

You could also run a tachometer test using ECMspy.
