Just bought a 2002 cyclone however the rear tail light and brake light does not work, anyone know a good place to start? Yes I checked the bulb. Thanks

Ground problem would be my guess. If neither works, the common denominator is the ground. Otherwise, check the fuses, accessory fuse for the running lamp, light fuse for the brake. If the other lights (headlamp, signals, indicators) are working though, I'd say ground for sure.
