Patience lol. I sandblasted off the anodizing first with the pistons still in it and the hose port capped off. Then I split it in half and used a vice, my finger, and some compressed air to pop out all the pistons (which are getting polished as well). Then I screwed the sides bac together and started sanding away. I used 150, 240, 400, 800, and I plan to go at it with 2000 as well. These were just the grits I had on hand. Ideally I would have liked to add a 320 and a 600 but oh well. Some of the crevices I can't get to so I'll have Zak hit them with his rotary sanding/polishing bits at work.

The Pegasus logo is great.
Anybody know if either PM or Nissin has an edge in 'performance'? Either feel, or power?

I would guess the reason for the change was cost. The PM piece works exceptionally well. I'm sure the nissan works well too.

Cost was the reason for sure. I have a Nissin on my S2T currently while this one is being finished and it works just as well.

Looks great...for a nice additional touch, if you hit with black paint around the logo, then carefully wipe the paint off on the flat surface with a paper towel soaked in paint thinner, Only the black recessed logo will be black. It's easy to do and easy to re-do if you mess up.

According to Regi Kittrelle in Battle2win (Volume 1 Issue 4, Summer 1997) when the 98's were released:
"The difference at the front is so subtle as to not be noticed. Let's fact it, PMI makes some of the best brakes around" and "Both calipers have been changed significantly. Still a six piston grabber, the new one weighs 150 grams (5.3 ounces) less and is said to be "stiffer" than the PM unit. The swept area hasn't changed, but the pad size is slightly smaller. Perhaps to make up for this, the leverage ratio has been increased from 24.0:1 to 25.5:1. Also changed is the master cylinder: bore size has gone from 15.87mm to 12.7mm. Given the excellent feel of the previous Buells, we were concerned that the increased leverage ratio would make the brake too sensitive. The reality is the opposite; the PM brakes have an initial, very slight "grabbiness" to them that is completely missing from the new stoppers. As good as the Performance Machine brakes are, the new ones take braking to yet another level. ..." Buell Engineer Martin Brown was cited for the facts in that article

The same issue said that the rear binders were WAY better.

>>>I would guess the reason for the change was cost.

Accurate.

If you can feel any difference . . . . you are under paid about $1M for your riding skills.

>>> Only the black recessed logo will be black.

Precisely . . . as I recall . . the inverse of the old BMC bikes.

Just for comparison sake... Mine is a 97 and the logo is protruding, not machined into the piece. This is one reason mine didn't get polished. I didn't want to loose the logo, or it would be difficult to polish up to and around it.
