Ok, so I empty the primary on the S1W and this is stuck to the plug.

Any ideas where it came from?

Ok, go!

That would be RETAINING CLIP PN 11031 off the end of the SHIFTER SHAFT which holds it to the BASEPLATE PN 34560-91, IMHO !!!

They come off because they are improperly installed or bent(re-used) and should have been replaced ...

IMHO, "i" would pull the primary coved and check things out ...

The excessive metal on you drain plug magnet comes from adjusting the pri.chain and/or drive belt "TOO TIGHT" and an improperly adjusted clutch does not help either ...

PRIMARY CHAIN/DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT Class 101, just PM me for copies ...

LaFayette:

It was the retaining clip PN 11185 from the back of Shifter Pawl PN 34492-91.

You were undeniably in the ball park. I checked for 11031 and it was intact.

Thanks again.
