Why the right side, not the left?

Just a guess, shorter brake line from the right side handlebar. Lower material costs.

Harley likes to hide the brakes, whereas Buell wants you to SEE the brakes : D.

That is precisely it . . . all of it.

No one had ever put a rotor that large on a motorbike . . . it looked cool!

Duh

It's cast iron ....... Handles heat very well.

I found a couple r&d test rotors from 1995 while cleaning crap out the other day.

He also has ....... I took a bunch of photos of them...... A stack of his famous composite "sandwich" rotors in the barn.

Great idea ..... Never gained traction.

Well the jiffy stand is on the left side, so it is going to be easier to work on the front brake if you have to on the side of the road.
i don't care but that's how i see it.

I'm still working out the problems with my bike. It's had a hard life. And I don't have the money or the knowledge yet. Slowly working it all out. Hopefully this bike will run forever.

In case you haven't verified warpage by checking for run-out, and are just putting new rotors on when it feels warped, try a different compound prior to tossing a rotor suspected as warped.

Mine felt warped when I put the Lyndall Gold pads on per Al's advice, and they stopped squealing and feeling warped + improved braking under all conditions.

For S2, shim it properly, rotate rotor 120 degrees around, ride it a few hundreds, pulsation will disappear gradually and completely gone eventually. It worked like magic in my case at least. I will look up shims I used... New S1 style front rotor assembly I bought for S2 is for sale

Holding the hand brake on while the disc is hot at traffic lights is supposed to warp disc ?

Mcmaster part numbers for shims (German, metric, perfect fit):
98055A213 (0.3 mm thick)
98055A212 (0.2 mm thick)
Make sure there still is small play even with shims.
