My new to me X1, 6,000 miles on the clock, had only one key so I ordered a new set. In order to order them, they took my VIN and found that it has an unaddressed shock mount recall.

Part(s) ordered. Should I consider it grounded til fixed? I have been and would be blissfully riding unaware otherwise. How much trouble did these things cause?

I don't think any actually broke.
I think they pulled it due to vendor's lack of QC and traceability. At least that's what Mr. Buell said at a gathering I attended.

Like they tested one at random and it was weaker than it was supposed to be and they asked the vendor "how many are like this?"
Vendor: "Do what now?"

It was an uncertainty I think.
