As the title says, doesn't get really bright and even hard to notice in direct sun. It's almost exactly like a lose bulb but the connections behind the gauge are clean and tight. Light comes on bright at start up and the bike runs fine, no trouble codes present. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Corrosion in the light socket?

What socket? I'm talking about the red check engine light. I'm going to look at the connector under the tank and make sure it's clean and tight.

With lights comes sockets Kalali...that would be inside the gage.

Clean and tight is good too.

OK, I see, the socket completes the circuit. Looks pretty clean/rust free. Thanks.

Actually the lamp completes the circuit,if the circuit is energized.

I would also check the discrete wiring and make sure your copper inside the insulation (jacket) is continuous. I found a wire going to my headlight bucket that was separated (broken) inside the insulation. My headlight would go off when I turned the handlebars to the left. The wire was stretched inside the harness too many times!

It turned out to be the IAT wires. I rerouted the wires and it is no longer flickering. I was tempted to just go ahead and replace the sensor but the wires disappear inside a huge loom under the tank covered with the factory mesh type cover. I'm actually surprised those wires and connectors survive that much constant heat cycling without being deformed.

By rerouting the wires, you may only have a temporary fix, if the copper inside the insulation is broken.

The good news is you found the suspect wires
